Words Have Power

I was listening to a podcast about how we use language and am reminded of the enormous potential of words –to help, to harm, to create a vision, to inspire or to destroy.  It seems like we are bombarded these days with social media, infotainment, opinion masquerading as fact, and words, words, words.

It’s a good time for me to remember that words have power.  And I, for one, want to use my power for good. I hope my words have helped to lighten your load or brighten your day.

I’ve succeeded in my goal of writing a blog everyday for 30 days. Some days it was harder than others, but mostly I was writing about what was on my mind in the moment, hoping that something I was reading or thinking or feeling  would be relatable to others. I’m declaring the experiment a success. I haven’t taken the blogosphere by storm, but I have found something interesting, inspiring or fun to talk with you about every day. I’ve loved hearing from so many of you. How lucky I am!

And I’ve gotten into a habit, and it’s a good one I think.  Now, I’m always on the lookout for interesting ideas or inspiring stories or tricks to having a better life to share with you. That practice alone makes my life richer. Thank you for that.

So here’s what I’m thinking. If you’ll keep reading, I’ll keep writing. Maybe not everyday. I think I’ll give myself the weekends off and maybe y’all can think about unplugging on those days too.  I’m generally fearful of long commitments because my track record on keeping those isn’t great. But hope springs eternal. I’ll keep posting during the week until the end of the year or until I run out of things to say, which ever comes first.

One final note: Remember how happy I was to reduce my monthly AT&T bill?  AT&T has the last laugh since my internet connection has been patchy since I altered my plan. Ironically, the internet service was the ONLY service I didn’t change.  Coincidence or cosmic retribution?  You decide.
