I hope you’ll join me on my adventure to Peru today. I had so much fun writing about my trip to Myanmar and Thailand a few years ago that I thought I’d try it again — with this blog. Look for posts and pictures, if I can wraggle the internet Gods from the Andes! BTW –this isn’t my photo but I’ve got all my gear and I’m ready to capture the magic. Mostly, I need to leave town so that I stop buying more hiking gear. REI is a daily stop and I believe I’ve reach the point where enough really is enough — for hiking socks at least.

Hey Cathy, sorry I didn’t realize you were going. I was there three years ago and it was fantastic. And, two years ago a friend of mine hiked the Inca trail as well. We would have loved to “fill you in” as you head off to one of the world’s magical places. All I can say is that the thin air in Cusco (11,000 ft) caused me massive headaches. Fortunately, one of my travel companions had the magic prescription meds and showed mercy on me. I was fine after that. Machu Piccho is only at 8,000 ft so I didn’t have the reaction there.
